Dad trained to do many jobs while stationed on the USS Thomas Jefferson APA30. He went on to become a Company Commander at Great Lakes Naval Training Center where he trained 7 companies (4 Regular Active Duty and 3 Reserve units), converting young men into sailors. He also was an instructor at the Fire Fighting Training Unit while stationed in Great Lakes. Dad spent 21+ years in the Navy and retired in 1964. Respectfully submitted by LeRoy Gill (son)
