SPIRITUALITY & WORSHIP
MINISTRIES
The Spirituality and Worship Committee strives to enhance the liturgical celebrations of the Parish by planning
for the liturgical seasons and developing the various Eucharistic Ministries. Fr. Mat, (876-6436) serves as the
Chairman of this Committee, and you are welcome to call him for further information or to participate in the various
ministries.
Sally Carr (301-745-4556) directs the Music Program. You are welcome to call her if you wish to participate
in the music ministry.
PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
The members of this council, in addition to the Pastor, form the leadership of the parish. Comprised of six
members from the parish at large and a representative of each active "Parish Committee," these individuals
give focus and direction to the various and sundry parish activities. The members of the Parish Pastoral Council
are Tina Buckler, Joe Castaldo, Mercedes Prohaska, Jane Rooney, Robert Smith, Dick Super, and George Stebbins.
GOOD SHEPHERD INTERFAITH VOLUNTEER CAREGIVERS (GSIVC)
This ministry of the church communities in Shepherdstown and under the auspices of the Ministerial Association,
provides spiritual emotional and physical support to the elderly and disabled in Jefferson County. The St. Agnes
Social Concerns Committee assists GSIVC by recruiting volunteers to assist with house repairs, transportation,
home visitation, and other needs for clients when they arise. The St. Agnes Parish volunteers minister to the needs
of parishioners as well as those members of the community who are not affiliated with any particular church. Lynn
Dunlevy (876-2642) and Dana Stewart (267-4607) coordinate our parish volunteers. You may call them for more information
Call to Action (CAT) is a national organization that promotes social justice and church reform by calling
on laity, religious, and clergy alike to fully participate in the church's social teaching and in its vision of
justice and peace. The Shenandoah Chapter of CTA meets monthly to discuss issues of Catholic social justice and
church renewal. Usually a recognized expert makes a presentation on the current state of affairs in focus areas
such as: Liturgical Renewal, Caring for Creation, Moratorium on the Death Penalty. A spirited discussion of the
issues and challenges follows, which lead, sometimes, to an individual or a group action.
SHEPHERD COLLEGE CAMPUS MINISTRY
Through our Campus Ministry, the Parish strives to reach out in welcome to the Shepherd College students. Students
are invited to participate in the various parish activities including the Eucharistic Ministry. Fr. Mat, (876-6436)

PARISH ACTIVITIES
The OWLS are a social group of our senior members. They gather once a month and plan outings that are both spiritual
and social. For more information you may call Linde & Arlen Moore (876-0914)
The Parish tries to gather once a month for a social, such as a picnic, covered dish dinner, seasonal party,
etc. We also celebrate the baptism of new members with a reception for the families in the Parish Center.

these activities.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Religion classes are held each Sunday morning, 9:15-10:15, in the Parish Center for our young people, K-9th
grade. We are always in need of adults who are willing to teach and assist in the various classes. We are also
in need of individuals to help with social activities for our young people. Donna Maciorowski is the Director of
Education (876-1514).
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) or Catechumenate is the process
by which individuals are prepared for the sacraments and entrance into the Catholic faith community. The Catechumenate
meets once a week, while the Inquiry portion of the Catechumenate meets once a month. The Catechumenate for children
& teenagers is also available when needed. Call Fr. Matt for more information.
The Social Concerns Committee coordinates activities such as Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets for the
less fortunate of the area, assists with needs of migrant workers, develops programs to keep us aware of a healthy
lifestyle, etc. Gerry Cooperman (263-4693) is the Chairperson of this committee.
PARISH FINANCE COUNCIL
The Members of this council have responsibility for the parish finances and the maintenance of the parish plant.
They work with the Pastoral Council providing the financial resources necessary to fulfill our parish mission.
This council also strives to help the parishioners understand the role of tithing in support of the parish and
the greater community of the church and society. The pastor appoints the members of this council. Those who might
want to serve on the Financial Council are welcome to call Fr. Mat.
