The Story of the Universe: A Cosmic Eucharistic Banquet
This is a weekend retreat at Priest Field Pastoral Center, June 13-15. How do we consciously become "one" with all that God has made and is still making? This retreat will help us attend to the generosity of God as never before --- to allow our "thanksgiving" to over flow for the good of the planet. Brochures and weekend schedule can be found at the church entrance.
Food Pantry Needs:
Breakfast foods (cereal, pancake mix, syrup)
peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned fruit (peaches, pears, mixed fruit and applesauce, canned soups of all kinds, coffee (regular and instant) and tea bags
Canopy Needed
The Dedication Committee is looking for a large canopy that they may borrow for the reception following the new church dedication. If you know of anyone or any organization that might be willing to lend theirs to us, please contact Dotty Piccolomini at 876-6927 or the church office.
The Social Justice Corner
Two weeks ago the Good Shepherd Gospel helped to highlight Jesus as the Good Shepherd. It could also remind us community-minded folks in Shepherdstown that Good Shepherd Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers provides help for our county's senior citizens and disabled persons, especially providing transportation to doctors, clinics, shopping and much more. It's easy to join. Just call Good Shepherd Caregivers at 876-3325.The Psalm that weekend also reminded us that God's gift of this earth offers us solace and comfort. In light of the Pope's call for us to be good stewards of God's creation, let's continue to commit ourselves to caring for it. The Youth Group has given us a boost by helping us REDUCE, RECYCLE and REUSE this month. Let's take those actions further this year by using reusable shopping bags available from the Youth Group and by continuing to RECYCLE and to REDUCE our footprint on the planet.
The Mission of Mercy dental clinic scheduled for June 27 and 28 still needs general volunteers. (If you can smile we need you.) You can register as a volunteer on-line at www.healthysmilewv.org or call Dan at the information below.
