Aug. 24 We had a great potluck last night, with 25 people attending. Including family members. We also received 2 more applications, one for a new member and one for a reinstate. This brings us up to 33 members and 6 applications for new members. All but 1 form has now been turned in for the new council, and this should be completed this week Aug. 20 We would like to welcome two new members, Jim Bauer, and George Fisher. Jim and George attended a First Degree exemplification at St. Agnes; this was performed by the St. Leo's First Degree team ( thanks to them). This gives us 32 members, and 5 applications for new members.
Aug. 9 Our first business meeting, and we're off to a good start. We picked a name, "St. Agnes - Shepherdstown", which still needs to be approved by supreme. Several projects are already underway, including a Chile Cook Off, tentatively scheduled for October. Our first social meeting is scheduled for Aug. 23 at 7:30, anyone interested in joining should plan to attend, bring your family and a dish to share, and meet us.
We now have 28 members, 6 applications for membership, 1 promise of a transfer, and the promise of 3 or 4 more applications for membership. We are trying to schedule another First Degree exemplification for the applicants.
Aug. 6 Formation meeting. Although we are well on our way we still need two more members. Officers have been elected, Grand Knight: Lyle Rush, Deputy Grand Knight: John Griffith, Chancellor: Bill Donahue, Recorder: Michael Davis, Financial Secretary: Bob Rizzo, Treasurer: Paul Young, Advocate: Bill Hansbury, Warden: Chuck Pierpont, Inside Guard: Ron Preuit, Outside Guard: Gene Falck, Board of Trustees: Dick Super, Jack Lantzy, and Bill Hansbury. Meeting times have also been set, business meetings will be the 2nd Tues. of each month.
July 26: Knights from St. James performed a First Degree exemplification for our new council. Nine new members were inducted. We would like to welcome William Preuit, Maury James, Joe Talago, Paul Young, Michael Davis, Chuck Pierpont, Steve Gorman, Tom Conlan, and Scot Stewart, to the Knights of Columbus. This gives us 25 members, and 6 applications for membership. There will a formation meeting August 6 at 1:00 PM, at the Parish Center. District and State officials will be on hand to help us with the details of starting a new council. Please attend if you are able.
July 25: Yesterday we received our 30th application for membership in the new council. 14 of these are new to the Knights and will need to attend a First Degree exemplification. The next First Degree is scheduled for July 26 at 7:15, at the parish center. If you want to join and are planing to attend, but have not applied, please come a little earlier to fill out an application. We would like to welcome Frank Bielicki to the Knights, he attended his First Degree in Martinsburg yesterday.
July 13: We now have 28 applications, and still several promised, so we have tentatively scheduled a First Degree exemplification (the ceremony through which new members are admitted). It is currently scheduled for Tuesday July 26, at 7:15 PM and all prospective members are invited to attend. All current Knights are also invited to attend (remember your membership card, you will not be admitted without it) and show your support for the new members . If this is inconvenient, the Martinsburg K of C is also offering a First Degree exemplification on Sunday July 24. Contact Lyle Rush, John Griffith, Bob Rizzo, or Dick Supper for details.
July 11: We now have 27 applications, and several that have been promised. But there is still time to become a charter member. You can find "MEMBERSHIP DOCUMENT's", as well as information materials, in the back of the church. Or check with John Griffith, Bob Rizzo, Lyle Rush, or Dick Super.
July 10: To date we have received 19 applications to join, this includes new members, inactive members, and transfers from other councils. There are several more parishioners that have committed, and there are some from the Mother Teresa Council (St. Agnes & St. James) who have said they would transfer. So the good news is with all of these commitments we have 23 to 25 of the thirty members needed to start a new council. We are almost there!
